Cloudy With A Chance Of Eyebrows

What do we notice first on Flint Lockwood’s dad from Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs – It’s what we call “strong brows! :)” I often have clients calling me saying they have a horrible uni-brow and can I please help them!

When we wax the brows we are attempting to lift the brow from the eyes giving a younger more polished look. Depending on the shape of your brows it really does show your feelings. Be careful when tweezing your own brows as you could end up with a very surprised or angry look just by pulling out the wrong hairs!!

For those of you who have blonde eyebrows, you have options. Your esthetician can use a vegetable based temporary dye to add pigment to the hair. There are a variety of colour options but most popular being medium brown. These temporary dyes can also be used to tint eyelashes usually in a black pigment. These are quick solutions taking approx 5 minutes. At your salon your hair stylist can put a permanent dye similar to what she uses to colour your hair. The other option is simply using powder to fill in your brows. I caution you not to use an eyebrow pencil if you are not experienced as it often looks severe and unnatural.

There are different options to shape your brows. The “ideal” brow shape will have an arch over the outside part of your iris. The brows should start in line with the inside of your eyes and end at a diagonal with the outside of your eye.

Procedure:

An esthetician should never go over the same area more than once with wax when doing eyebrows. The skin is very thin there and can cause it to blister, bleed and or tear. Of course make sure the same applicator is never used more than once to maintain cleanliness in the wax pots. It’s also helpful if you have a picture of what you would like your brows to look like. Make sure whoever is doing your waxing is experienced as it really is a skill that takes a long time to master.

When Not to Get Waxed:

  • You currently take Accutane, or have stopped taking it less than a year ago.
  • You’re taking any prescription acne medication.
  • You have lupus or AIDS.
  • You’re in cancer therapy getting chemotherapy or radiation.
  • You have been in direct sunlight for a long period of time or tanning bed within the last 24 hours.

Thanks so much ladies and may the brows be with you! xoxo
